This is by far one of the best kbbq spots I've ever had (and I'm an LA native). Everything--from the decor to the food to the banchan--was perfect. I didn't have a single gripe about the place.
At face value, this kind of looks like a hole in the wall. Situated off Yonge in a nondescript small building, Daldongnae was very impressive once you step in. The entire restaurant is much larger than its facade suggests, and for good reason. We came by on a Sunday at 4:30pm and managed to get a table for two with no wait time. We ordered the pork howl and the beef short rib, and were immediately impressed with the level of banchan available. They even had lettuce wraps!
The corn cheese and egg grilled on the side of the pan, in addition to some garlic chips and kimchi. All of the banchan was great, and the servers were more than willing to refill as requested.
The pork jowl was the perfect balance of fat, and the beef short rib was a nice tender cut. The amount of meat for the price was also average, but you definitely make up for it with the sides.
Overall, one of the best places I've had, and it's a shame I can't take them with me back to DC. -

A delicious and authentic Korean bbq in the North York area!
I have been here before, but my first experience was not as pleasant, so I was wary of returning. HOWEVER, this visit proved to be different and delicious!
My friends and I came on a Monday evening, upon entering, we were directed to a booth. I liked that while it was a big place, there was a coziness to it. We ordered 3 servings of pork belly and a few bottles of soju to start. The server returned with egg mixture (similar to steamed egg) and corn with cheese to start cooking on the ring side of the pan, which also had sliced cabbage kimchi and garlic with oil on the other parts of the ring. All these warm side dishes, along with other banchans were refillable, to your heart's content!
Pork belly was cut thick with a diamond cut pattern, for easy cooking.
SERVICE: the staff were plentiful, helpful and quick. They can also help you cook, if you're unsure of how-to.
FOOD: portions were generous and side dishes were refillable.
Only downside, it is slightly pricier than other Kbbq in the area and even Kbbq's on Bathurst/Bloor. -

One of the better korean BBQ in town!
Six of us went here with 4 different meat orders, some beer and soju, and a fish pancake with a ton of complimentary apps and soup. The price came up to around $24 per person including tips and tax.
To my nice surprise, the best part of our meal was actually the fish pancake. This was a nice surprise as it wasn't originally what we came here for. BBQ meats are fresh but it's pretty standard... in a good way!
I like all the appetizers and the speed of customer service as well.
The restaurant is nicely spacious and it can most likely host a party of 10 if you ask.
Overall, high quality meat and fresh veggies! Perfect for sharing happy times with friends and family - would try again! -

The first time I went I thought it was overrated because I didn't think the meats were anything special and it was rather unflavourful, tough too. The potato salad app, egg and the corn on the side were probably my favourite items. Did not understand the high ratings at all. Service was really good though, super helpful and really friendly. I ended up going again a month or so and still felt the same. Went again a third time, okay, I get it now. I WAS WRONG. Honestly, if you're not an expert bbq-er or you just want to chat, don't cook. You'll ruin everyone's lives. If you overcook the meats here, it's v bad, worse than other places I would say, so pay attention. If you come as a group of 2, they suggest you only order 2 meats so the price is still cheaper than AYCE. If you come as a group of 4, they suggest you order 3 if you get an app or entree or whatever they call it, still cheaper than AYCE. If you come as 6 and you order a table full of stuff, I can't remember the price but I think it's something similar to AYCE or less but the food is way better. So It's economical and it's yummy. HOT DEAL.
Oh, clear jelly app thing is also good. I don't know what it is. Potato salad is good. Free egg with kbbq is good. Free refills on the previously mentioned items. Ribeye and pork belly are solid. Beef tartare is yummy.
There are barrels that you sit on if you're not in a booth and you can put your jacket and stuff inside. P cool.
Looks like they have waitlist so use that as it does get busy. If you don't and you have to wait, try their other location. it's usually less busy (it's like down the street) but this location is definitely more lively. -

after hearing all my friends rave about this place I decided to check it out. this place is packed but the turnover was pretty fast. There were about 7 people ahead of us and we got seated in 20 minutes which was not bad at al. our server was very nice and gave us recommendations to get the pork belly and the boneless short rib. we were amazed by the amount of side dishes they had. my favourites were the miso soup, the spicy zucchini, cheese corn and egg. my friend said the miso soup was the best he ever had! especially because it was a little spicy
the beef was good it tastes like steak! I liked sipping it in the onion sauce. I would say that the beef is better than the steak because it's more tender. the pork belly was good too and the size of it was giant. I liked how all the side dishes are free to refill. the only recommendation I would have is to clear the old egg and corn because it gets burnt after it cooks for a while.
overall this place is yummy and I would go again. I like to do the cooking it's fun!
